This is a story I'm starting on, since there is no Fanfiction section I'll put it here.
Summary: After being banished to the Shadow Realm, with the help of Bakura, Marik is now back. Only this time he has disguised himself as Malik to become the not so imaginary friend of five-year-old Meagan just to get what he wants. Will Meagan be able to escape her abusive dad and Marik with the help of Malik and Ishizu?
Just for the record Malik is the good one and Marik is the evil yami. I've double checked a million times. Later chapters will be added.
Reflection[/b]
"Get 'em!" the five-year-old girl shouted at her TV. She was in the middle of watching one of her all time favorite cartoons with her black and white cat Ishtar lying on her lap. He looked up for a moment before laying his head back down and closing his green eyes again. “I knew you could do it!” Meagan shouted at the TV, picking up the Toy Millennium Rod she had. Taking that as sign that she wanted to play Ishtar batted at the toy. “No! Ishtar! Bad kitty!”
The girl lightly hit the cat, which caused him to jump off her and run across the room, under her bed. “Ishtar!” Meagan stood up walking across the room to her bed. She knelt down on the floor, reaching under the bed for the kitty. The cat hissed at her and she withdrew her hand. Standing up, Meagan sighed “I wish Master Marik would come back, I miss him.”
As if right on cue, dust swirled around the floor and there stood Marik. “Master Marik, you came back!” Meagan yelled happily, as she ran over to the yami who scooped her up in his arms.
“Of course I came back, why wouldn’t I? So how have you been?” he asked.
“I‘m good.” Meagan replied as Marik set her back down.
“Where’s your father?” Marik asked.
Meagan half shrugged as she looked at the door “he locked me in here.” she explained.
“Again?” Marik asked. He sighed and picked up the toy rod from the floor. “We can’t have that, can we? We should blast him with this and teach him a lesson.”
“I want to!” Meagan said happily.
Marik gave her a small smile and walked across the room. He tried the knob and sure enough, it was locked. He turned and looked at Meagan again. She was now preoccupied with her toys. He turned and looked back at the door, using the toy rod he stuck one part of it into the keyhole and jiggled it until the door clicked. He turned and looked at the girl again, “Look Meagan, the door wasn’t locked after all!” he said.
“Does that mean I can eat?” Meagan asked just now becoming aware of her own hunger.
“Why don’t you wait?” Marik suggested. “We’re going to meet Bakura and Rachel in the park for lunch.”
“But I’m hungry now!” Meagan pouted.
“Okay then we’ll stop on the way.” Marik said. “But we have to get out of here first, ‘kay?”
Meagan nodded and followed Marik to the door she stopped in the doorway. “I‘m not allowed. Daddy will get mad at me.,” she said as if just now remembering her own fathers’ threats.
“We’ll worry about him later.” Marik said as he continued walking. He stopped and turned to look at Meagan, she was still standing there. “Come on, Meagan, we’re going to be late.” he said.
“I can’t,” Meagan said. Marik sighed and walked back to the girl, taking her hand in his, he pulled her out of the room while all the while ignoring the girls pleading. “I can’t leave! I can’t!” she shouted all the way downstairs.
Growing tired of the screaming, Marik let go of the girls hand when they reached the front door. “Meagan, listen to me.” he said kneeling down so he was eye to eye with her. “You can play with Rachel in the park, okay? We have to go though so Bakura doesn’t get mad. I promise we’ll be back before you father.”
For a minute, Meagan looked as if she was ready to protest, instead, she nodded “Okay, Master Marik.” she whispered.
“Good girl.” Marik said standing back up. He opened the door and let her go out first before following her, shutting the door behind him as he went.
---
“You’re late.” Bakura said as both Marik and Meagan walked toward him and Rachel.
“She had to eat. She wouldn’t stop bugging me about it so we stopped and got something for her to eat so she would shut up.” Marik explained. “You ready?”
Bakura nodded, turned, and looked at Rachel and Meagan. “Hi Rachel!” Meagan said happily.
“Hi Meagan,” Rachel replied, she was sitting under a tree playing in the dirt when they walked over. “We finish the portal today.”
Meagan smiled and nodded just as Bakura took Rachel’s hand and Marik took Meagan’s hand. They four of them walked together for a while, both Rachel and Meagan were silent for most of the walk. Rachel looked up at Bakura “when we finish the portal...can I live with you?” she asked.
Bakura looked at her, shocked by the question. “Absolutely not!” he said. He looked down to find Rachel pouting. He sighed and as kindly as he could say, “it’s far too dangerous for you,” he explained.
“Oh.” Rachel muttered and after that, she fell silent.
“Master Marik...”
Already knowing what Meagan was going to ask Marik answered with a quick ‘no’ as they stopped in front of a clearing surrounded by trees. “But,” Marik said looking down at Meagan. “If you open the portal I’ll be able to see you anytime.”
“But...It’s going to rain.” Meagan said her eyes now focus on the darkening skies overhead.
“Meagan,” Marik said trying to hide his frustration. “Do you remember how I taught you?” Meagan nodded her head slowly. “Then do it.”
“I’m scared...” Meagan said quietly.
“Don’t be scared child; no harm will come to you while you open the portal.” Marik said.
“But-”
“Just open the damn thing.” Marik growled, his irritation with the child rising each second.
Meagan stepped forward. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes while all the while muttering the incantation Marik had taught her. She stopped halfway through it, lightning flashed dangerously across the sky and thunder boomed. She turned and looked at Marik “I’m scared,” she said.
“Just finish it!” Marik snapped.
Meagan turned and started to finish the spell but stopped when lightning flashed again and the thunder boomed louder. It was starting to rain now. She dropped to the wet grass feeling tears in her eyes. “Meagan!” Rachel yelled she took a step forward toward her friend Bakura held her back as to prevent her from walking any closer. “Meagan!” she shouted trying to get away from Bakura.
“Stay!” Bakura hissed to Rachel.
“Finish the spell, Meagan!” Marik snapped at the five year old.
Slowly, the girl rose to her feet, wiping away tears from her eyes as she did. She shut her eyes again and finished the spell as fast as she could. As she did so, a large purple and black hole appeared. When she finished the spell, Meagan backed away from the portal as if afraid it might hurt her if she got to close to it. Marik took the girls hand and turned away from the portal. “She’s done her part, we’ll finish another day,” he said.
Bakura nodded in agreement. No human would see the portal so it didn’t really matter to them. He led Rachel out of the clearing with Marik following behind him. When they walked through the park, the pair left in separate directions to take the kids home. Marik smiled at Meagan, he was carrying her back to her house. “You did good back there,” he said to her as they walked into her house. Not surprisingly, her father had yet to return.
Meagan muttered a reply; she was half-asleep, her head resting on Marik’s shoulder. Marik walked into her room and laid her down on her bed, pulling the covers up to her chin, he exited the room, locking the door behind him. He had to make sure everything was back where it had been earlier that morning or her dad would get suspicious. With that done, Marik vanished only to return to his place in the Shadow Realm. With the portal open, he was free to go in and out whenever he pleased, so he didn’t have to wait for Meagan to wish for it.
