This forum was created on April 16, 2006, a month and two days shy of my third birthday (At least I think. That's when the admins joined anyway). Now, on October 11, 2020, over fourteen years later, a random "yugioh roleplay" search into Bing led me here, a forgotten forum hosted by a forgotten website. This place has been a ghost town for the better part of the decade, as the last time one of the three admins were on was back in 2011. Since then, the only activity this forum has seen has been fringe posts like this, or bot accounts linking to probable viruses. It all makes me think about the people who spent there time here. Was the community a peaceful one, or were there any controversies? Was the community vibrant and active, or were there just a few accounts that all became good friends, or did the admins struggle to keep the forum active since it's inception? Are any of the former members still friends, or have they all gone their separate ways? But for me, this forum hearkens back to a long gone period of the internet where sites like these were common. An area that teenaged me would likely be involved in, especially one that matched my tastes like this, but I was born about a decade to late to take part in it. On the off chance some other wayward netizan stumbles upon this site like I did, or on the even more off chance one of the former members of this site actually comes back to the site, please comment down below. You don't even have to set an account up. I'd love to hear from you. I'll check this forum every day. Until then, I'll poke around the site a little more and then see if I can find a YGO roleplay discord server or a site that is active.
See you!

I wanted to find a legit cool YGO rp site... I see a ton of pokemon and naruto... but Yugioh would have been cool even in the setting of GX with the three Houses? Idk...

Good to see that I'm not the only one with the same idea.

I think something like a GX houses roleplay website existed at some point via Dueling Nexus before it went down. It'd be cool if something similar could start up again.

I'm still checking this page in case anyone cares. Not everyday, but when I remember. I have this page bookmarked. Looks like the COVID outbreak hurt this forum's host hard. Hope they can stay afloat.

Hey. I know this place died, but I have been itching to RP with people. I had a site I was about to get up and running a ways back, but it never took off because I ran out of time to take care of it. So, if anyone is interested in breathing life back into it with me, meet me here: paradoxprophecy.proboards.com/ in the chatbox at the bottom.

I feel this same situation. A Yu-Gi-Oh Roleplay forum that I was an admin for, was recently brought back to memory by an automated email I received about someone joining for the first time in years. I only just found this board today, just so you know. I'm in the same boat, though. I made a post hoping that people see it, and I've been checking on it frequently, hoping that someone will see it. I haven't spoken to any of the old users in years, and I'd love to catch up with them.
nylarthephoenix, our board was a GX-inspired RP, although not 3 houses. Rather, 1 house for each summoning method. Just checking to see if maybe you saw this board at some point.

Also, Paradox, it's late at night right now (so I need to sleep), but I'll check out your board later. I haven't played yugioh in a while, and I'm not caught up on the nuances of the current ruleset, but I'd be happy to give your board a chance. It'd be a lot of fun, and actually give me something productive to do.

Wow! Two new posters on back-to-back days and I neglect the page for a month lol. I actually never saw any board like the one I was talking about. Just heard of it while on the Dueling Book chat rooms one day.
I'm on my way!
Back to the subject of what happened to this site, I've noticed two new things in the NEWS ticker bar. When was this written? I have to assume an admin wrote it.
Also there's this.
Looks like the site recessed around the dawn of 2008, almost 2 years into its existence. One of the admins, Pharaoh Kay, says that the admins at this time were trying to revive the board through advertisement and to make the character profiles better. A week after posting this, the admins deleted every character that didn't comply with the new character template. I'm not sure if this affected activity or if the board was already that far gone, but only three characters seem to have survived past this change and one of them belongs to another admin, Kris. The only other thing of note is that there seems to have been in-character marriages on 12/3-4/06 if the admins' signatures are anything to go by. Pharaoh Kay hasn't been on the forums since 10/22/08. Kris lasted longer, until 3/18/11. Not sure if the forum was active around then or if Kris was just reminiscing about the good old days. There are emails listed in each admin's bio. I've thought about contacting them but those emails may not even be in use anymore and even if they were I'm sure they wouldn't like to be bothered about a dead forum they probably haven't thought about in a decade. That's all for now.
Remember if you're just passing through don't hesitate to leave a comment! I'd love to hear from you!
See you!

I believe that the admins deleting non-compliant char profiles probably had something to do with it, yes. Even if you want to keep to a strict template, you still have to remember the old rule. "The customer is king." This is the second most important rule. Obviously, if they're being specifically shit-stirring in their attempts to break the rules, then they deserve whatever consequences the higher-ups give them. But more importantly, the people have to be having fun. Without fun, a board is worthless. Otherwise, what other reason would people have to be here. The players/participants are here to enjoy themselves, and when the standards to be able to have said fun is too high, people will lost interest. The proper balance of strictness and leniency must be struck in order for everyone to be happy.
Lol, sorry for leaving my TED Talk here. I just got inspired to write this after reading your message. I'm also not saying that what's written in this message is exactly what happened to this board, since I wasn't here. This is just my hypothesis. I think it's also possible that the RP may have been reset? My old board was reset late into the game due to certain circumstances, and I believe that was a decisive factor in why it eventually lost traction. It sucks to have everything you've done and worked for, be all for naught.
