The Worst Thing I Could Say

"Yay Pizza!"

Kris seemed rather over joyed for the fact that she had won the argument over the options for food. It seemed as if their Food War wasn't much of a war, as it didn't really take them too long in the slightest bit to pick something to eat. And with pizza everyone could have whatever the hell they wanted on their pizza, which would be a good thing otherwise they would have had to argue about the type of toppings they wanted on the pizza. But the fact that everyone could get whatever the hell they wanted on their pizza prevent any sort of argument from arising too soon.

"Shopping sounds like fun," Kris announced as they walked toward Pizza House (It's better then Hut XD). "I mean we could go to the mall...At least we won't all ahve to fight over where we want to go because there's tons of places in the mall. Everyone should be happy about whereever they decide to go..." she trailed off as they neared the pizza place. "Okay...Enough talking...Eat now talk later..." And with this in mind, Kris grabbed Ryou's arm and the two of them ran off - or Kris ran while she pulled Ryou behind her - all the way into Pizza House, leaving everyone else to stare and wonder what the hell kind of sugar she had during that day. The fact that she was so hyped up seemed a bit odd to anyone.

Entering Pizza House, Kris' face seemed to light up when she spotted the buffet of pizza that lay in wake for her. Grinning like a child getting candy, Kris continued forward, paying at the counter before quickly going down the line of pizza, now arguing with herself about which kind she wnated the most. Eventually she just grabbed one of each slice of three different peaches pizza's before finding a place at the back of the restruant fit for their whole group. She ws the first one at the table and was halfway done with her first plate of pizza before Ryou and some of the others decided to join her.

"That depends..." Kaiba said, picking up on Kris topic as they left. "Can we go to the mall across from Best Buy?"
"Why?" Mac, asked, "What difference does it make?"
"I need a mouse for my laptop."
"Doesn't it have a touchpad thing? Joey asked.
"Yeah, but mine's jacked up..." Kaiba growled, "A mouse is easier."
"I want to see if they have Okami on the Wii yet." Alex said excitedly.
"Not till next year." Kaiba told her.
"How do you know?"
He just grinned.
"Wait, you're a gamer?" Joey asked Alex.
"The gamer!" she giggled.
"After me." Kaiba corrected her.
"Keep tellin yourself that, hun," Alex smiled at him.

"We might as well..." Kris said as she continued eating her pizza, "I need to stop at Best Buy anyways..." she trailed off, leaving the others to guess if they really wanted to. But silently she continued eating her pizza.

It wasn't long after the others had gotten into their own random discussions before Kris jumped up from the table, announcing her need for dessert. And with that, she sprinted off again, this time in the direction of the dessert buffet. Again, leaving everyone to watch her,l almost surprised by her randomness. "Yeah...I'm attributing her hyperness to the sugar consumtion at the movies today..." Ryou commented with a mild smiled. He seemed amused by it, but all the same..."She'll go into convulsions if we take away the sugar today..." he said with a sigh.

Well it was a once in a lifetime thing for her, and so he couldn't quite argue against it.

It wasn't lng after their trip to Pizza House Cabin before the group made their way toward the mall and Best Buy. Though, coming to the corner by both places, Kris turned back to her friends, "Lets all go into Best Buy first...Then we'll skip off to the mall."

"Skip?"

Kris ignored this and ran off, once again ahead of the group and into Best Buy.

"The Wii sucks, you know," Kaiba told Alex.
"Does not." she said.
"I'd have thought you'd have a PS3 by now." he told her.
"I do," she smiled, "and a Wii!"
"Okami's better on PS2." he said.
"Have you played it on the Wii?" she asked.
"I don't play the Wii..." Kaiba said.
"It's fun."
"It's retarded."
"What's Okami?" Tristan asked.
"Best game ever." Kaiba said.
"Have you beat it yet?" Alex asked.
"Almost."
"Where?"
"Lechku and Nechku."
"Oh, they're easy!"
"I haven't even tried yet." he confessed, "I went back to get the bigger Power Slash and Cherry Bomb."
Joey waved his hand over his head. Lost. Tristan nodded.

"What are we talking about?" Kris asked as she randomly appeared again, taking her place again with a bowl of ice cream covered with hot fudge, whipped cream, sprinkles, and at least ten cherries on the top. She plucked one of the cherries off the ice cream at random and chewed it off the stem.

"Okami...And the Wii..." Ryou explained.

"Okami sucks...And the wii is pretty cool," Kris said, now joining in the conversation. "I mean for a game that just came out two years ago, you would think ti would have way better graphics9cs. The graphics just suck. And you can't have a good game without killer graphics to go with it. And the wii's the best part of any game. You don't' need a stupid controller where you sit down and play dumb boring game. You can have a cool controller and it's like you're actually in the game. Way better."

"I'm just happy with a regular PS2 now..." Ryou commented. "I mean everything else is way more advanced then it has to be."

"That's the cool thing about it though!" Kris said as she put down her spoon, "I mean the fact that these games are becoming so much better...And the platforms are so far advanced. I mean you can do just about anything with a PS3 that you can do with any other gaming system...The PS3 is just so much better!"

"Excusemewhat?" Kaiba glared at Kris, "Okami does not suck!"
"Are the graphics that bad?" Joey asked.
"Not at all," Kaiba said, "They're just different. It's supposed to look like an ink painting. It's just a different style, no one's used to it."
"The whole game?" Tea asked.
"Yeah, and it still moves and everything." Kaiba said, "And the graphics don't even matter because the gameplay is so cool."
"Why?" Joey asked.
"You play the game as Amaterasu, the reincarnation of the sun goddess. You fight demons and Yamata-no-Orochi, twice. You get these cool brush techniques-"
"Brush?" Ryou asked.
"Yeah, the Celestial Brush, it's Ammy's ink brush," Kaiba explained, "You use it to fight, restore areas of the world, it's an intrigal part of the game, and gets more advanced as you play. You learn to slash, restore, bomb, burn, freeze and zap things with different techniques that the gods teach you."
"That sounds cool!" Yugi said.
"Told ya." Kaiba muttered.
"I didn't like it at first because it was originally distributed by Capcom..." Alex said.
"Clover's out of business though." Kaiba said.
"Yeah, someone else made the Wii version."
"You know what game does suck?" Kaiba asked.
"What?" Alex asked.
"Size Matters."
"Ratchet and Clank? You love Ratchet and Clank!"
"Not this one," Kaiba shook his head, "It was supposed to be for PSP, then some idiot had the bright idea to reformat it to play on PS2. Good plotline, bad gameplay. And the graphics were definitely lost in the transition..."
"We're gonna be here a while." Yugi said softly. Tea nodded.

"Okami sucks..." Kris continued, "I mean they were so cheap they didn't hire any real voice actors...Everything they say you have to read yourself. Most of the time you only find that in Gameboys and things to the likes. But this is a PS2 for crying out loud. You would think they would be bright enough to use some voice actors...Make the game seem more so interesting then it really is now..."

Ryou sighed and rubbed his temples, "Can we end this now? I want to go shopping..." he commented.

Kris ignored him and continued, "And Size Matters isn't as bad as the first Jak. I mean I know it was just a proto type and it was never really supposed to be released, but I beat the game in a day. The worse part of it was the fact that you had no guns. I need guns...They're like the only way I survive anything...I would die if I had no guns..."

"But you have no guns!" Ryou added.

"I meant on games..." Kris said as she glared at him before taking another bite of the melting ice cream.

"Precursor Legacy?" Kaiba asked, "Now that one sucks. You get 3 hit points! And no guns. Or dark eco."
"I like Jak III." Alex commented.
Everyone agreed. 3 was the best.
"I just hate X." Kaiba said, "I'm not a racer."
"Where are you stuck?" Tristan asked, "I beat that one. It's easy."
"The race in the dark eco cup where you have no weapons or defense." Kaiba said.
"Wow, least you made it that far." Joey said.

(*moves mouse around* *slams maouse* *clicking mouse 2billion times* Why won't you select?!!? Oh...you're for the computer, not the laptop... XP lmao XD)

"Like I said, I need my guns," Kris commented. "And my dark eco, I have quite a bit of fun with dark eco...That's possibly why I like the game...As far as Jak X, that wasn't hard to beat at all...It took me at least a week tops to beat it, it's not the hardest out of the Jak series. I'm still stuck on Jak III though, but I'll be damned if I know what the hell I'm supposed to do...I haven't played the game in the longest time..."

This was starting to get rather broing at this point, being that Ryou wasn't much on games at all, the fact that he had to listen to them arguing about games wasn't making things at all interesting for him. Shopping had sounded like a much better idea in his eyes, but instead everyone chose to sit around and discuss video games for the afternoon. Not how he wanted to spend his day. "Can we go shopping now?"

Kris looked up from her ice cream and nodded, "I'm game for shopping!"

"If I hear the word 'game' again it'll be too soon..." Ryou mumbled.

"It's not that bad!" Kris said as she jumped up. "Come on, shopping time!"

Shopping with Alex was always fun. She somehow found a way to get them all involved. At some point, Tea and Kris joined her trying on clothes. In the dressing room, where the boys couldn't hear, Tea ventured to ask, "Alex, how do you know Seto?"
"KK and me have been friends for a long time!" Alex said happily, "Since his stepdad adopted him. His dad and my dad were friends, but since Seto took his place, he's been trying to get on my dad's good side all this time." She giggled.
"Does your dad like him?" Kris asked.
"Oh, yes," Alex said, "They're good friends. But not as good as us."
"How come your dad was friends with Kaiba's dad?" Tea asked. She knew Gozaburo had been in the military industry, making choppers, tanks, those sorts of things.
"I'll tell you, but it has to be a secret," Alex said softly, "My daddy owns Sony."
"The video game company?" Kris asked excitedly.
"Mmhm." Alex nodded, "So I'm next in line to inherit. Seto calls me the Sony Heiress."
"Oh, you're an only child." Tea guessed.
"Yep." Alex said, "That's why I love Moki to death! But he's with his friends today."
Tea smiled. This girl was like part of the Kaiba family herself.

The boys stood outside the dressing rooms. Kaiba heard Tristan tell Duke, "She is so cute, man."
"Too bad she's only got eyes for Kaiba." Duke said.
"Huh?" Seto looked up.
"Dude, she totally digs you," Duke said, "Don't tell me you don't see it."
Kaiba just stared at him.
"Oh my god, are you that clueless?"
"Alex is just a friend." Kaiba told them. "A good friend."
"Why when she could be yourgirlfriend?" Tristan asked.
"Me and Alex?" Kaiba looked skeptical. "That'd just be..."
"Awesome?" Duke asked.
"Weird." Kaiba said.
"And you're the smart kid in the group?" Tristan asked.

The fact that shopping ith Alex seemed rather enjoyable made Kris like her a bit more then what she had originally thought. Alex wasn't like most other girls, except the fact that she did like shopping probably more then most girls. But that wasn't always a bad thing, even for Kris. Shopping did always have it's upsides, especially if they found some sort of outfit they liked and could call 'cute' now this wasn't at all how our Kris liked to do things. But being that she was running off pure sugar at the mometn, she ahd an excuse for taking a liking to shopping for the time being. But, as she slipped into a pair of dark blue jeans, she could hear the other two and their conversation, though it wans't but moments later Kris caught on to what they were talking about.

"Your Father owns Sony?" she was far more interested then what she had been originally, but just listening to her say that, Kris was interested. "But that means...You're just about as rich as Kaiba, if not richer...You two are so perfect for each other!"

Now examining herself in the mirror, Kris couldn't help but think Kaiba had yet to figure this out. The two of them were more alike then what he probably wanted to believe yet.

"And Kaiba doesn't seem to know this yet..." Kris announced almost sadly.

Listening from off to the side (in his little corner XD) Ryou couldn't help but smile at Kaiba, though for what reason, he didn't want to announce yet. But it was rather amusing to him how Kaiba could be so blinded by this fact. Alex was all over Kaiba and that was one thing he failed to see.

"Well Kaiba, I found the one thing you're not good at..." Ryou announced, though still smiling. WHen the others looked at him, he continued. "I mean, through this whole day, you haven't seen the looks? The way she acts around you? I mean it's obvious she likes you more then a friend...She's waiting for you to catch these hints though."

"But..." Kaiba said, "I don't want Alex as more than a friend..."
"Sucks to be her then," Tristan shrugged.
"Can I have her?" Duke asked.
"No!" Kaiba snapped.
"See? Now you're getting defensive. And you don't like her?"
"Not like that..."
"Look at me when you say that."
Kaiba thought for a minute. Did Alex really like him that way? And he'd never noticed?

(Oh! That reminds me! I'm gonna mail you a snippet from a fic I'm gonna do later.)

"If you didn't like her," Ryou said as he walked closer to the group, "You wouldn't have been so defensive when Duke asked if he could have her. I mean, I know you probably think of her more of a sister then of a girlfriend, but there is some part of you that likes her. You have to admit that much..."

He trailed off and found Kris walking out of the dressing room, carrying what seemed to be a heap of clothes.

"You don't like shopping," Ryou comented as she walked passed him.

"Tell me that when I'm not so hyped up!" Kris called back as she continued to walk across the store, for what reason no one kenw, and chances were no one wanted to really find out.

Turning back to the others, Ryou stated, "I mean you might not think you like her in that way, but you have to liek her just a bit. Otherwise you wouldnt' have gotten so defensive when Duke asked if he could have her. Face it Kaiba, you like her. I can see it when you look at her, there's just that little part of you that likes her, but the rest of you isn't ready to accept that just yet. Like you don't want to like her, but you do at the same time..."

Kaiba glanced at the other boys, all staring at him now. He didn't want to believe them. So he chose not to.
"You're wrong..." Kaiba said, shaking his head.
And they continued through the mall.

Kaiba spent the rest of the time avoiding the other boys. But he found himself watching Alex much closer now.
She was really pretty. Especially when she smiled. And he always knew how to make her smile. She could do the same with him. He hardly ever smiled anymore, except when Alex was around. He had to admit, he was a lot happier with her than he was without her.
But she's just a friend... he told himself. I don't...love her...do I?
