The Worst Thing I Could Say

The school bell rang for the last class of the day and everyone scattered, all wanting to be first out of there. The three boys convened at the eldest one's locker.
"We still on for tomorrow, K?" Andy asked.
"Yeah," Seto told them, "But we're gonna start early, so try to be up before noon, Andy."
Mac laughed. Andy stuck his tongue out.
"Oh, mature!" Mac sneered.
"Is Alex coming?" Andy asked.
"Yeah." Kaiba said.
Now Joey was listening. He'd never heard the name Alex in their conversations before.
"Yes!" Andy grinned. "I'll be up. See ya."
"Call Alex before you show up this time, OK?" Mac reminded Seto.
"Yeah, yeah," Kaiba waved him away, "I got it."
"See ya tomorrow." Mac shouldered his bag and followed Andy out.
"Who's Alex?"
Seto turned and frowned. Joey, Yugi, Tea, Duke, and Tristan were all staring at him intently, curously.
"What?" he said.
"Who's Alex?" Joey asked again.
"A friend of mine..." Seto muttered, turning back to his locker.
"I don't think we've ever met an Alex before." Tristan said.
"Alex isn't from around here." Seto said irritably. This was none of their business! So why was he telling them? "We don't get to see each other very often."
"You guys close?" Joey asked.
"Yeah, Alex is my best friend." Kaiba said.
"I thought Mac and Andy were your best friends?" Tea asked.
"They are," Kaiba said, "I got more than one, OK?"
"So you get to hang tomorrow?" Duke asked.
Kaiba clenched his teeth but answered, "Yeah, we're going to a movie."
"What are you gonna see?" Yugi asked.
Seto sighed. "We don't know yet." He added, "I wanna see Jumper."
"Cool," Tristan said, grabbing his bag, "Have fun."
The group started to walk away, but Kaiba sighed and called, "Hey! You guys can come too...if you want..."
"Really?" Duke asked.
"Uh, yeah..." Seto muttered.
"Cool!" Tristan said, "I want to see Jumper too!"
"I heard it wasn't very good..." Duke said.
"It doesn't matter." Seto said, "We never all see the same thing anyway."
"You guys go to a theater together and don't see the same movie?" Tea asked.
"Yeah." Kaiba said, "What?"
"Never mind..." Tea sighed, "We'll come."
"Cool." Kaiba said, shouldering his bag, "I'll pick you guys up, about...9, OK?"
"OK."
Seto turned and started to walk away but added, "And don't freak when the limo pulls up, OK?"

"I didn't know you had any sort of friend..." Kris muttered as everyone else seemed rather interested in who Alex was. It was the only real sentence she could get in before everyone else started to ignore her and continue interrogating Kaiba. So, she opted to remain silent and listen to the others, though she had removed her hand from Ryou's hand and folded her arms cross her chest, watching the others as they continued their interrogation before Kaiba finally gave in and invited everyone to the movies as well. And so everyone seemed to go off in their separate ways, returning home for the evening as usual. Though Kris was left staring in both directions, debating on two things. She could either follow Yugi and the others or follow Kaiba...And for some reason the option of following Kaiba was better then the thought of Yugi and the others. Having witnessed their mini-interrogation to Kaiba moments before, she wasn't in the mood to go through anything of the sort. And the fact that it would prolong her visit home helped her decide quicker.

Taking Ryou's hand again, Kris led the way down the street and walking a few paces behind Kaiba. The snow colored haired boy seemed torn between questioning her as to why she had wanted to follow Kaiba, and wanting to know what was planning. But either he knew she wouldn't be able to answer either of those questions, or he was afraid of hearing the answer to any of the questions seemed to scare him, was left hanging in the air. And so our Ryou-Kun was left in silence as he followed Kris.

For some reason words weren't really needed through this walk, as none of them could think of the right thing to say. As though just knowing the others were there seemed to help calm any other emotion that was boiling beneath the surface. And never once in that afternoon that was mainly spent in peaceful silence did the question come. Why did everything seemed to calm with the others? It didn't need to be said, because that only meant questioning why it was so.

It wasn't until later that afternoon to early evening that Kris finally departed, leaving Kaiba to his own thoughts. She waved good-bye and told him she would just meet them up at the movies the next afternoon. And with that she was gone again...

The sun wasn't nearly as high in the town as it should have been for it turning almost noon. Though, it wasn't quite noon as of yet. They still had about an hour before noon would arrive. Which would mean Kris was just a bit earlier then the others, standing in the cool air conditioning of the movie theater while Ryou walked off, saying something about needing candy. Watching him from a distance, Kris smiled softly, realizing this was the one she had chosen just a few years previously. And now, looking at it...She was rather glad she had made the decision, as he seemed perfect for her in any way possible. He wasn't by any means the exact opposite of herself, and yet there were only a few main difference between them. It wasn't enough though that they could hate each other for any given reason. There was just something about him, something so perfect about him...Whether it be his snow white hair, or his chocolate brown eyes, or just his sweet personality...There was just something, just that little spark.

Forcing her thoughts away from Ryou though, Kris directed her gaze to the list of movies that were playing. She scanned the selection before realizing she didn't know anything about any of the movies. Perhaps if they did end up all seeing different movies, she would just pick one out at random and pray to God it was something she would like.

"Find anything yet?" Ryou asked as he finally reached Kris again. The girl could only but shake her head. Ryou smiled slightly as he pointed at one at random, "I wouldn't suggest Jumper if that helps." he said.

"That really helps," Kris said sarcastically, though all the same she grinned at him. "It narrows it down to five others to choose from..."

"Well then, I have no idea..." Ryou remarked.

"We're gonna go get Alex now?"
"Yeah."
"Did you call first?"
"..no."
"K..." Mac sighed.
"Alex doesn't need to be reminded." Kaiba said, glancing at Andy "Unlike some people..."
Andy blinked. ^^
"How come we've never met Alex before?" Yugi asked.
"I told you, Alex doesn't live around here," Kaiba said, "Just visits sometimes."
They watched the city pass by out the windows until they stopped before a villa-like house near the edge of town. The three boys scrambled to the front seat, all trying to blare the horn at once as Alex came out the door and approached the car, not at all what the others were expecting.
Mac opened the door for Alex, and the other boys stared as a beautiful brown-haired girl slid across the seat next to Kaiba. She had wavy hair, green-teal eyes, and long smooth legs showing through a pair of torn jeans. Tea smiled and nodded knowingly. The boys just stared.
"Alex!" Andy threw his arms around the girl.
"Andy!" Alex's voice was as smooth as her skin, "I missed you guys!"
"We missed you too!" Mac grinned.
"How bout my favorite boy?" Alex smiled slyly at Kaiba, "Did you miss me, Seto?"
Kaiba shrugged and leaned back, saying, "Ah, you know me, I don't care much what you do." He smiled at her, looking sideways at his friend. The four laughed.
"Who's your other friends?" Alex asked, "I don't think I've met them."
"Uh, this is Joey, Tristan, Duke, Tea, and-"
"Yugi." Alex smiled.
"Yeah, how'd-" Yugi looked confused.
"You and My Seto are the two biggest faces in dueling. I know you." Alex winked.
Joey and Tristan exchanged glances. Her Seto?
"But...you're..." Duke said, "I mean, he said Alex, and I...I thought..."
"Yeah," Joey said, slowly coming out of his stupor, "You're not..."
"A boy?" Alex said.
"What we expected." Yugi said.
Alex looked at Kaiba.
"What?" he asked.
"You have got to start telling people my gender..." Alex sighed.
"Who cares?" Seto said, "I said you were my friend Alex."
"Alex can be a boy's name," Alex said, "Alexandria doesn't confuse people."
"But you don't like Alexandria." Kaiba reminded her.
Alex turned to the others. "No one expects Seto to have any pretty girl friends." She winked again, and the other boys could barely breathe. At least she knew she was hot. But why spend her time with Kaiba?

[Royal Vizier Kris]

Kris smiled at Ryou's innocent look before leaning forward and placing a chaste kiss on his lips. It was just the abrest of touches, and within seconds she drew back from him, smiling slightly. He returned that smile before leaning forward on hsi own and returning this kiss, deeper then the previous one. Though ti wasn't but a moment later that both of them drew away from from the kiss, both of them now smiling, pure innocence at this time. Kris opened her mouth to say something, rather smart ass...But Ryou kissed her again, silencing all of her other thoughts for a moment or two. Though when he stopped, Kris couldn't help but giggle for a moment or two. At this, Ryou grinned even more.

"That's the first time you've actually giggled," he explained, and left it at that as though this would help explain everything else.

"What's so funny about that?" Kris said, frowning slightly at him.

"Nothing...I've just never heard you giggle like that...You just don't strike me as the giggling type!"

Kris nodded and pushed a lock of brown hair out of her shining blue eyes. A happiness that didn't seem to be present earlier on had trickled into her eyes, making her look almost too innocent...Though innocent wouldn't have been the world Ryou would have searched for. Innocent just didn't cover Kris by any stretch of the means, there was just so much about her that wasn't as innocent at what others would guess first off. But all the same, the look of pure joy and happiness did make it look deceiving...As though she could be innoncent and not try to be. All the same, whatever it was about it, there was just something that made Ryou all the more happy at the moment. And the only thing that could really ruin that happiness would be if the others had suddenly walked in. He would have rather been anywhere else besides the front lobby.

"You know," Kris said as though reading his mind. "We could go somewhere, quieter..." her innocent smile was quickly replacing by a devious look, as though she was planning something else and had hoped he would catch on to this.

"As much as I wouldn't mind that," Ryou said, "You know we can't do that...The others will be here in-"

His sentence was of course cut off as Kris leaned forward, causing him to back up against the wall in between two of the posters that advertised of course two movies. From this angle, Kris grinned and returned the kiss that he had given her moments before. And as though it had been planned all along, the two of them heard the sound of a familiar car pull up to the front before hearing the sound of Joey behind them.

Forcing herself away, Kris backed away from Ryou and both teens found themselves blushing furiously as they spotted the group coming into the theater.

"Um....Hi...." Kris said sheepishly as she waved.

"Is this Alex?" Kris asked surprised.
"That's me!" Alex grinned.
The group went into introductions again, but Tea and Yugi hung back.
"Wow, she's really not what I thought." Yugi said softly.
"Oh, I knew it would be a girl." Tea said.
"How?"
"The way he talked about her."
Yugi remembered Kaiba's description of Alex. Alex is a friend of mine...Alex isn't from around here...we don't see each other very often...
"He wouldn't have been so evasive if it was just some guy he knew." Tea said.
"So you think they're...together?" Yugi asked.
"No," Tea said thoughtfully, "It's pretty clear she likes him though. I just don't think he sees it."

"What are we seein'?" Andy scanned the movie posters. Horton Hears a Who. Jumper. Definitely Maybe. Sweeney Todd. Alvin and the Chipmunks. Many many others lined the walls, including some that weren't out yet.
"Well, now I wish 88 Minutes was showing..." Kaiba said.
"Al Pacino's too old to make anything new," Mac shook his head.
"So's Harrison Ford." Kaiba said.
"They're making a new Indiana Jones movie." Alex said.
"That's what I said." Kaiba told her.
"No, you said Harrison Ford was old." Alex corrected him.
"To be in a new movie." Kaiba added.
"But they're making one." Mac said.
"I know." Kaiba said.
-_-; The rest of the group just hung back and watched. This was better than the movie. But it could take a while.

Having met Alex just a few moments ago, Kris found she had finally someone to connect with on some level. Besides Tea, she was for the most part the only girl in the group, and despite the fact she did get along with Tea, there just wasn't much the two of them could really agree on. As though they were opposites from one another. But now that Alex was there, Kris finally had another girl she could communicate with, someone that wouldn't preach about friendship every minute she could. It wasn't as though Kris had hanything agianst Tea, it was just that she didn't get along with her as much as she had thought originally thye would. But now with Alex around for the day, there was at least someone she could get connected with as friends. That was always good.

"You know," Kris said with a smile.

"Oh God..." Ryou remarked under his breath.

Kris glared at him for a moment before turning back to the others, "We could get them together...I mean you're right, she does like him...But either he's to blind to realize it, or he doesn't realize it. They would make a cute couple...We could get them together..."

Trailing off, Kris walked away from them and towards the others who were grouped around posters, trying to find something to agree on. Though, with their luck, Kris silently mused, they would all eventually give up and either pick a movie at random or go off to different movies, or option number three...Hang out in the lobby and play video games until some announced they should go out for pizza. At the time, number three sounded like a very likely option.

"We should see Sweeney Todd today..." Kris commented, not meaning to interrupt their conversation. "I mean, as it's the only thing that looks decent."

Ryou paled slightly, "It's not decent by any means..." he commented quietly.

Kris shrugged, "Decent by my terms," she said.

"Which as we all know means blood, gore, and just about anything else..." Ryou said.

"Yep, pretty much!" Kris grinned.

"Let's see Snakes on a Plane!" Andy grinned.
A solid "NO." echoed through the group.
"Fine..." Andy sulked.
"I heard Definitely Maybe was good." Alex said.
Kaiba frowned. "It's a chick flick..."
"You don't have to see it." Alex said, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry is showing too Andy!"
"Seen it." Mac said.
"I wasn't talking to you, Macky," Alex said.
"I was just sayin." Mac shrugged.
"OK, will you guys actually pick something?" Duke said.
"I'll see Sweeney Todd with you Kris." Andy said. "You want to, K?"
"No thanks..." Kaiba said shrply.
"Scared?" Joey grinned.
"Seen it." Kaiba said.

"Tea, you want to see Definitely Maybe with me?" Alex asked.
"Sure," Tea smiled.
"I'll go too." Mac said.
"Mac!" Kaiba looked at him like he'd said he wanted to be an opera singer when he grew up.
"I don't wanna see Sweeney Todd..." he whispered so Andy wouldn't hear.
"I'll go see Jumper if you still want to, Kaiba," Tristan said.
"Yeah," Kaiba said, "I'll see it with you."
"Ryou-kun?" Kris gave him puppy eyes.
"I'm not seeing it."

"You have to see something." Kris said, "You, Joey, Duke, and Yugi haven't picked."

Sighing, Kris though about it as she scanned the list of movies since the others hadn't picked anything as of yet. She smiled deviously before saying, "You should see Definitely Maybe."

Ryou stared at her as though she had grown a second head which for all he knew could have been quite true. It wasn't as though he had anything against her suggestions, just the fact that she would even think to suggest it made it far worse then what ti really had to be. But all the same, the fact remained that he just couldn't fidn anything to agree on. Everything seemed either too bloody, too stupid, or just too much of a chick flick in his eyes. So, he opted to remain silent as the others thought about the choices they still had.

"I'll see I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," Joey announced.

Duke seemed to think about it, torn between that and Snakes on a Plane though after hearing how everyone else had said no, he could only assume they had thought it was stupid. And so he looked over the choices again before saying, "I'll go with you Joey."

Now leavintg both Yugi and Ryou left, and the fact that Ryou just couldn't decide, yugi decided to choose out of the above movies. Though, there just didn't seem like anything he wanted to see except perhaps Snakes on a Plane. He would have gone with Tea to see Definitely Maybe but the fact remained that it was too much of a chick flick even for him. "I guess I'll see Snakes on a Plane." he announced.

Everyone else seemed to give him a weird look for a moment, as though he had suddenly jumped up and started dancing like a ballerina around the room. Finally though, they shrugged it off.

"What about you Ryou-Kun?" Kris asked.

"I don't know," Ryou said thoughtfully. "Maybe I'll just stay out here and play video games..."

"Not by yourself!" Kris whined, "If you stay then I'll stay..." she decalred, though didn't soud happy by the option.

(Poor Ryou-Kun can't pick a movie.)

"We can always switch." Andy said.
"True." Kaiba said.
"Switch?" Joey asked.
"Yeah, if we don't like our movie, or just wanna see what everyone else is doing, we sneak into each others' movies sometimes." Andy said.
"What?!" Tea said.
"I'm gonna stop brining you to movies with us if you can't at least tolerate our methods." Kaiba said.
"You're not supposed to do that." Tea said.
*cricket chirp*
"And...no one cares..." Tea said.

No one cared.
Not half an hour into the various movies and Joey and Yugi were in Sweeney Todd, Ryou and Kris were in Definitely Maybe, and Andy and Seto would come and go in the various theaters periodically.
Tea left to get a drink, and met Tristan on the way back.
"How's Jumper?" she asked.
"Cool," Tristan said, "K's missing a lot of it though..."
Her first thought was when had they started calling him 'K'? But she asked instead, "Why? Where is he?"
"He and Alex left a while ago."
"Alex?"
"Yeah, she came in after...oh, you must have left before her."
"Where are they now?" Tea asked.
"Hell if I know," Tristan shrugged, "But they missed this awesome scene with a bus-"
"Mac!" Tea called to the other boy crossing the lobby near them. "Where'd Kaiba and Alex go?"
"They're in Jumper with me." he replied, "Why?"
"Nothing," Tea said. But she and Tristan went with Mac back to the theater.
From the darkened stairs they could see Seto and Alex a few rows up, sitting next to each other, her head on his shoulder as they watched David and Milli (sp?) speaking on the screen. When the movie stars kissed, Tea saw Alex slip her hand into Kaiba's. They both smiled at each other.
"Hey..." Tristan whispered, nudging her. He was grinning. Mac left them to join the two in the third row.
Tea smiled. Just as she thought.

Having lost interest with Definitely Maybe within the first five minutes of it Kris was slowly starting to lose focus with the movie. Ryou on the other hand seemed rather interested in the movie, despite the fact that it was what he had called a chick flick on the way into the movie. Now hwo exactly the two of them got roped into this movie while everyone else foudn something far better to watch was beyond even Kris, but she was going to have to shoot the others when she found them...If she found them at all. With her luck, they would have gone off into different movies by now, checking in on the others and just watching the movie in general before walking into a random movie and finding that no one of their own group was there. So finding the others wouldn't be the easiest option possible but it was better then sitting through another hour of the movie.

Standing, Kris whispered something about getting some candy to Ryou before leaving the theater. She examined the lobby for a moment, as though expecting to find someone she knew just walking into a random theater. When she didn't spot anyone though, Kris did manage to get the candy that she had promised Ryou, though as she was turned back to return to her theater, she spotted Mac, Tea, and Tristan walking into a theater. At a closer look at the sign above the door, Kris could only gather it was Jumper. She thought about it for a moment before silently following after the others, standing a few feet away from them in the back of the theater as they found Alex and Kaiba deep into the movie.

Mac walked away from them and joined Kaiba and Alex once again, leaving Tea, Tristan, and Kris in the back of the theater. Smiling slightly, Kris crept closer to the two of them.

"Whatcha doing?" she said just loud enough that the two of them would hear. Finally she stepped away from them, crossing her arms before saying, "And I thought you didn't like the idea of sneaking into other movies..." she told Kayla Kay Tea. For a moment she waited for the girl to say something before cutting her off, "And now I don't care..."

With that Kris turned toward the door.

"Where are you going?" Tea called after her.

"Going to give this candy to Ryou before going to check on Yugi and Joey in Sweeney Todd. And with that, she gave a lazy wave to her friend before leaving the theater, leaving Tea and Tristan to continue watching Alex and Kaiba.

"Told you." Tea whispered and left to return to Maybe.
"Told me what?" Tristan asked, "Tea! Wait!"

(Stuckness. XD Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match. Find me a find, catch me a catch. ;D That was on yesterday too! lmao)

ONE HOUR LATER

It seemed as though all of the movies let out at clost to the same times, because it wasn't long after Ryou and Kris were waiting in the lobby - Kris messing around with one of the millions of games, though this one happened to be a shooting game - before the others quickly spilled out of their own theaters as well. Though Kris seemed oblivious to this little fact as she seemed in the middle of shouting randomly at the game that she was apparentlly having no luck with. This of course got her a few weird looks from everyone else that didn't know her...Including some little kids as well as their parents who seemed keen on hurrying their young ones out of the theater.

"Kris..." Ryou walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. Even that touch, the barest of all touches seemed to calm Kris the slightest bit, as though whatever Ryou had done had some kind of an effect on her and calmed her down a great deal. "Come on, everyone else is starting to come out...We're just waiting on Kaiba and Alex..."

"I'll be there in a-" she trailed off, now consumed in the game.

Ryou backed away from her and return to the group, though kept his gaze on Kris. She was one of a kind...There was something about her that he liked, something he just couldnt' explain. But now watching her in her unsuccessful attempts with a shooting game, he realized one thing he liked about her. The fact that she could lose something and make it almost graceful in a way, or at least graceful on her terms of the word.

It wasn't long after Kaiba and Alex came out of their movie before Kris finally lost interest in the game and walked over to the others.

"I'm hungry...Can we get pizza?" she asked.

Another thing he happened to love...Her short term memory loss.

"Pizza sounds good." Kaiba said.
"I want Chinese." Alex said.
"No," Mac said, "Tacos."
"Yeah!" Andy agreed.
"No way!" Joey said.
Tea sighed. This could take a while too...

Ryou smiled slightly as the argument for food begun. This would soon be known as the Great Food War. Unless they could all agree on something to eat, and rather soon. But the fact that it took them all at least thirty minutes earlier to choose movies said a great deal in the way of how long it would take them to agree on something to eat, and if they would agree on something. The worst thing possible would be they would lose interest and go into seperate places just to get some food. Well this was although not one of the most normal days in Ryou's eyes, it was rather enjoyable to watch them decide. It always led to some argument, and then someone saying some kind of smartass, or just plain stupid comment. Either of which were amusing.

"I still want pizza..." Kris pouted softly.

"I want Italian..." Joey mumbled, though doubted whether they would at all agree with him.

"I agree with Mac," Ryou said. "Tacos."

Kris sighed, "Pizza!"

Yep...This would take a while.

"We're still going shopping too right?" Alex asked Kaiba.
"Yeah." he said.
"Wait," Tristan said, "You said we'd go see a movie-"
"Alex likes to shop," Kaiba shrugged, "We just go and watch."
"I wanna try on some new clothes." Alex said dreamily.
None of the boys could say no to watching that.
"So, pizza?" Joey asked.
No one argued.
