"I asked you a question, Cousin," Charlie smirked, walking along with them.
"Oh yeah?" Chazz said. He knew what was coming, but tried to act indifferent.
"Yeah," Charlie said, "I said, 'What's up Chuck?'" He made it one whole word again. Chazz flinched at the nickname but answered.
"Nothing..." he muttered. Charlie just laughed at him. Chazz blushed and bit his tongue. The only thing that could get under Chazz Princeton's skin was the other Chazz Princeton...

Kylie smirked, "I like the nickname..." she said.

(Don't look at me. I got nothin. I just wanted to do the name thing! ;D I confused myself!)

"You would..." Chazz growled. "Hey, Charlie, Jaden back here thinks he wants to go grabblin with us."
Charlie looked the brown-haired boy up and down. "Has he ever even seen a catfish before?"
"If you can do it, I can," Jaden said, "Up-chuck..." he added. Chazz grinned. No one ever used Charlie's joke on him before. But Charlie wasn't so thrilled.
"We'll see, slacker," he mimiced his cousin's words on the plane.

SCENE CHANGE

(There, we're at the river now. Happy?)

(God! He's like Chazz! That's creepy!)

"This should be interesting..." Kylie muttered. She sat down by the river, picking up a few small rocks, she started skipping them across the river.
"Don't do that, you'll scare the fish away." Atticus said.
Kylie raised her eyebrows, "You're going grabblin aren't you?" she asked.
"I might," Atticus said. "You should try."
"No thank you." Kylie said.

(I know! I didn't even do it on purpose! It was just the first thing to pop into my head! XD)

"Come on Sy!" Jaden called from the water, "I can't beat them without you!"
He and the Princetons were waistdeep in the freezing river. Charlie kept splashing it down his back. No way was he going to suffer this much alone.
"Uh..." Syrus sat down with Kylie in the grass, "I forgot how to swim."
"Don't worry Jaden," Chazz said, "It's not really about winning." This wasn't something you normally heard from Chazz, but he seemed more mellow when he was with Charlie. It looked like someone had finally out-Chazzed even The Chazz.
"Sure it is," Charlie corrected him. "First one to find the fish and wrestle it out wins. That's the way it's always been, Chuck." He still hadn't forgiven Jaden for turning the nickname his way, but he was reluctant to use it on Chazz now. No tellin what this Slifer would do.
"Zane, come help him," Chazz called.
"No way, C," Zane shook his head, "You're not getting me in that river..."
"Zane..." Chazz glared.
Zane sighed and slipped his jacket off. He hadn't been gragglin in a while. Why not. But when he waded out there, he realized how cold it was.
"God, I don't how you do this every year..." he said through chattering teeth.
"You get used to it," Chazz said and then looked back toward the river bank, "Come on Lexi!"
"I said no, Chazz," Alexis shouted, "Before we even got here!"
"Hey, if I'm out here, you better be!" Zane yelled.
"I don't think so." Alexis crossed her arms. The boys called to her and Atticus pushed her.
"Go on, Lex, get your ass in the water," he smirked. She sighed and gave in. She pulled her shirt over head, revealing a white tank top, making the boys in the water stare, and waded in. She squealed at the cold water.
"I'm so going to kill you guys for this..."

"You should try....Alexis is." Atticus said, he was looking at Kylie. "Come on, I'll do it if you try."
Kylie said and looked back toward the river, "I don't know...." she said.
"Please?" Atticus asked, giving her a pleading look.
Kylie sighed, she stood up, "Fine." she muttered. Atticus grinned and stood up, taking off his shirt and slowly making his way into the water with Kylie following close behind him, lucky her she was in a pair of jean shirts and a blue tank top. "Shit it's cold." she said.
"It's not that bad." Atticus replied.

"K, now all you gotta do is move the rocks around a bit until you find the-" Chazz started.
But Alexis squealed again. Something swished by her leg. She grabbed for it and it flip-flopped.
"Fish!" she yelled. And everyone lunged at once.

Kylie giggled.
Syrus watched from the bank, shaking his head. He watched them push and shove and splash over the fish. It whacked Jaden on the nose and finned Charlie's arm, making a small cut. Finally, Zane got a good hold on it, between the gills. And they yelled and laughed and struggled the fish out of the water and onto the grassy bank.
The kids flopped onto the grass, dripping, panting, and shivering. Chazz grinned at Jaden.
"That's grabblin!"

Kylie grinned as she watched the fish flop around on the grass for a minute. She looked at everyone else, still grinning like a chesire cat before saying, "Lets do that again!"

SCENE CHANGE

Soaking wet but happy, the gang followed Charlie up the dirt road toward his house. The sun was setting -they'd grabbled all afternoon- and fireflies were winking all over the place. Now Jaden understood why Chazz prefered to stay here with his cousins instead of going home with his family to Boston every year. The countryside was beautiful.
But some things seemed the same. Charlie teased Chazz constantly. It was like having his brothers around again. Jaden pulled him back as they walked.
"Is your cousin always like that?" he asked.
"Like what?" Chazz said.
"Is he aways so mean to you?" Jaden asked.
"Charlie?" Chazz looked surprise, "No, we're like, best friends!"
"He reminds me of your brothers..." Jaden said.
"Charlie does?" Chazz raised an eyebrow, "He's nothing like them..."
"You sure?" Jaden narrowed his eyes. How could Chazz not see it? What seemed so different to him?
"Yeah," Chazz said, "Trust me. You haven't seen anything until you meet my cousin Ray. Who I hope to God isn't here..."
"He's in Galveston..." Charlie muttered from up ahead.
"What?" Chazz stopped, "Why?"
"He's down there freeloadin offa Uncle Jack, cuz Dad get's mad when he comes around here..." Charlie explained. Ray was his older brother. He knew how Chazz felt.
"Galveston?" Syrus said, "You have relatives in Texas, Chazz?"
"Yeah, sure," Atticus said, "A lot of our relatives are from Texas too. That's how we met this kid." He put his arm around Chazz's shoulders and walked with him.
"Maybe we are related..." Alexis admitted, "Think. All our relatives are from the same places."
"Yeah, that reminds me," Chazz said, "Charlie, we're looking for their brother. Last name's Rhodes?"
"Rhodes..." Charlie muttered, "Rhodes..." He stopped and thought a moment. "Yeah, there was a couple in town the other day with that name."

Kylie looked up, since they left the river she had been entertained by the fireflies, she try catching them which would remind anyone of a little kid. "I've been to Texas." she said just out of the blue. "For my cousins wedding..." she turned her attention back to the fireflies, only she didn't try to catch them, she just watched them fly by.

"Hey, Chazz," Zane smiled, "Tell them that story about your Uncle Jack at the funeral."
"Oh God..." Chazz muttered, "I've tried to block that out..."
Atticus laughed. "No, really, tell them. It's like that thing Jeff Foxworthy does; 'You Might Be a Redneck'."
"Yeah, you might be a redneck if you've ever..." Chazz paused and sighed. He hated his family. "If you've ever opened a beer...during a eulogy..."
Zane, Charlie, and Atticus burst out laughing. Chazz shook his head.
"Are you kidding?" Jaden asked, "Tell me you're kidding."
"Nope," Chazz shook his head. He was laughing now too. "We weren't even on the lawn or nothin! We were IN THE FREAKING CHURCH!! And the reverend JUST gets done talking and we all here fssssh." He imitated his Uncle opening a beer. "And we all look back, and he's there in the last row, holdin a Budweiser. And he looks up and goes, 'What?....'"
"Priceless!" Charlie laughed.

Kylie grinned "that's a redneck family." she said. "I love it though...That's funny in a sad way."

"You're makin that up!" Jaden said, shocked.
"No! I'm not!" Chazz protested, "I swear! How could you make that up? It's too stupid to make up! Ask Charlie. Didn't he Charlie?"
"Yup, I'll vouch," Charlie said, "Popped the top right after the sermon."
