(Who else loves Hellogoodbye's new song? I do! It's so sweet. Though the vid is kinda dumb... ;P ...juicy fruit...ANYWAY, since I have a new pairing, and tomorrow is Valentine's Day [and I don't have a fic to post XP *is dead*] and I was listening to this and thought we should start a cute little love RP. And believe it or not, I won't be using Chazz as my main character! *gaspers* No, I'm using Aster this time, and his new girlfriend Riya. Ready guys? Feel the love in 3...2...)
Aster lay curled on the top deck of the boat, listening to Love Like Winter on his iPod. The sun was still low in the morning sky and shone warmly on his back. He sighed and felt himself start to snooze.
Then a low thrumming sound rose over the beat of his music and he opened his eyes and looked up dreamily. A helicopter was flying across the water toward the school. It drifted over his boat and flew on toward Duel Academy. He shrugged and settled in again but then another sound shattered his peace at sea.
"Hey Aster! Come meet the new arrivals with us!"
Because the docks were between the Slifer Dorm and the school, Jaden and his friends often stopped as they passed by to pester the pro-league duelist who'd set up residence in their harbor.
"No thanks," Aster called over his shoulder, "Think I'll pass."
"Come on Aster!" Jaden yelled, grinning.
Aster sighed. If he continued to refuse, they'd continue to harass him. If he just conceded and went with them, maybe they'd let him be the rest of the day.
"OK..." he said wearily, climbing down off the top deck. He glanced up to see who else was coming.
Jaden of course. Syrus, the young Ra who insisted on living with the Slifers. Though why he chose that Aster never knew. And Chazz. The former Obelisk Blue kid. Aster had watched him rise and fall all year long. But one thing never changed: even though he'd been offered the chance to return to the Blues numerous times, he remained at the Red dorm. Some other kids had taken to calling him a "Slifer Lifer". But Aster knew why he stayed. Here, he was with his friends.
But one thing had changed, Aster realized as he walked down the ramp to the dock. Chazz no longer spoke. Their little group just called him the mute now. Ever since Jaden 'brought him back from the Light', so to speak, he hadn't said a word. Or if he did, it was never to anyone but Jaden, and it wasn't much.
"Alright," Aster said coming up to them. "Let's go."
(Sorry. If I'm not going to use Chazz much in this one, I at least have to give him his props. ;D)
