Kris sighed, she looked up at Adi only after realizing she was absentmindedly rubbing her arm, "It's a long story..."

(I'm doing this in a flashback...Okay? Okay...)
Kris sighed as she picked up her fork, she wasn't really hungry. Finally, she looked up at Adi, "You've got to promise you won't tell anyone. And I mean it! You can't even tell Ryou or Duke or Ali...No one can know about this...."
FLASHBACK
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Kris groaned and pressed snooze on the clock that read 5:30 AM. Just another few minutes and she would get up. But she never had the chance to close her eyes again, the second she hit snooze, her bedroom door swung open, "Get up!" a man yelled from the doorway.
Kris sat up and turned to look at her step-father, his hair was a mess and some of it was covering is blood-shot eyes. She sighed, the last thing she wanted to do was piss him off, so of course she got up. "Where the hell is breakfast?" he snapped at her.
"Um..." she never got the chance to finished her sentence, the second she got that word out of her mouth, the man grabbed her wrist, pulling her out of the room and down the hallway into the kitchen.
"You know you're supposed to have breakfast on the table by now!" he snapped at her as he let go of her when they were in the kitchen. "And you know what happens if you disobey me, don't you?"
Slowly, she nodded her head, backing away from him as far as possible, maybe she could get lucky.
But luck wasn't on her side, she had just backed up to the counter, and he was slowly advancing on her, a knife in his hands, "You've had more then one chance." he said as a dark smile spread across his face.
"I'm sorry..." was all she could manage to say.
"Sorry? You were sorry the day your report card came in, you were sorry when you forgot to clean this damn house when you knew damn well those Social Workers were going to be here! And you were sorry the day you came home late!" he snapped at her. "I've had enough sorrys!"
Kris bit her lip as he came closer to her, close enough so she could smell the beer on his breath anytime he breathed(is that a word?). Slowly, he placed the blade of the knife on her neck.
He couldn't get away with murder, there was no way! He wouldn't....But she knew he would kill her, even if it meant he would end up in jail. So, she did the only thing she could do, she pushed the knife away from her and finding the only escape route she could, she took of running, but she didn't make it to far, he grabbed her wrist, twisting until it cracked at least twice. Kris bit her lip, trying to prevent herself from yelling out in pain, she couldn't give him that kind of satisfaction. "You're lucky, bitch." he said in a deadly whisper, "I'm feeling nice today, now get the breakfast on the table in five minutes or I swear so help me god-" he didn't need to finish the threat, she knew what would happen. Finally he let go of her, dropping the knife onto the counter and stormed out of the room.
END FLASHBACK
"And then after that...I just went back to my room, I was going to get ready for school but I didn't make it to the closet. Laid down on the bed and passed out for at least three hours..." Kris muttered, she was now looking down at her food, though she hadn't touched any of it.
(WARNING: It's long!)

Adi dropped her spoon and leaned foreward. "Really?" she asked. "Let me see." she said, holding her hand out towards Kris's arm.

(Now I've got to start on a present for Jess and then I'm doing a HUGE present for Aly for her b-day...Any ideas? I wanna make her a video but there are no clips with Kaiba (none that are good at least) and no good Kurama clips ^^ "Please promise you won't tell anyone..." Kris said. |
